Waterproofing Sydney

A good-looking tiled surface is only one part of a wet area. Tell Ellis whether you are renovating, replacing a damaged finish or investigating water appearing elsewhere so the enquiry starts with the right problem.

Start with the area and its use

A shower, laundry and exposed balcony need different discussions about drainage, adjoining surfaces and the proposed finish. Send a wide photo, close-ups of the concern and any existing plans. For an active leak, describe when it appears and where the water becomes visible.

Agree on the layers of work

Ask for preparation, waterproofing and tiling to be identified separately in the scope. Removing finishes can reveal conditions that were not visible at inspection, so the quote should explain how additional work will be assessed before it proceeds.

Allow for the whole sequence

Access, removal, preparation, product curing and replacement finishes all affect the programme. Ask when the space can be used again and what records will be supplied. The selected system and site conditions determine the sequence; a photo alone cannot establish it.

What to discuss in your scope

  • Bathroom and shower waterproofing enquiries
  • Balcony and terrace repair enquiries
  • Preparation and tiling scope discussions
  • Review of photos and available project information

What can affect the quote?

A useful quote is based on the condition of the property and the agreed work. These details can make a difference:

  • Existing finishes and access to the substrate
  • Drainage details and adjoining surfaces
  • Product selection, site conditions and curing periods

Damage discovered during opening-up

One tile replacement revealed hidden timber damage

A customer asked Ellis to replace one tile beside a bath. Opening the wall revealed decayed timber behind the tiles, changing the scope of the repair.

A clear repair quote starts with the condition beneath the tiles, as well as the finish you can see.

Questions about this service

Can new grout replace waterproofing?

No. Grout work addresses tile joints; it does not replace a failed membrane or repair a leaking pipe. The cause and location of water movement need to be considered before selecting a repair.

Can you quote from photos?

Photos help establish the likely scope and next step. A firm scope may require an inspection, measurements and information about the structure and existing materials.
