Bathroom Waterproofing Sydney

Planning a bathroom renovation or dealing with moisture outside the shower? A useful scope explains what is being removed, what will be prepared and how the waterproofing stage fits with the rest of the bathroom work.

New renovation or repair?

For a renovation, share the room layout, proposed shower position and any planned changes to fixtures. For a repair, describe the symptoms and previous attempts to fix them. These are different starting points and can lead to very different scopes.

Coordinate before covering up

Decisions about drains, screens, niches and fixtures should be discussed before the tiled finish is installed. Ask who is responsible for each stage and how unresolved details will be checked before the next trade starts.

Plan bathroom downtime

A household with one bathroom needs a clear access and use plan. Include the required removal, preparation, curing and reinstatement stages in the discussion. Avoid assuming that the room is ready for use as soon as the last tile is installed.

What to discuss in your scope

  • Bathroom and ensuite project scoping
  • Shower and wet-area preparation discussion
  • Coordination of waterproofing and tiling stages
  • Repair versus broader renovation options

What can affect the quote?

A useful quote is based on the condition of the property and the agreed work. These details can make a difference:

  • Extent of demolition and existing substrate condition
  • Changes to shower layout, drains and fixtures
  • Occupied-home access and bathroom availability

Damage discovered during opening-up

One tile replacement revealed hidden timber damage

A customer asked Ellis to replace one tile beside a bath. Opening the wall revealed decayed timber behind the tiles, changing the scope of the repair.

A clear repair quote starts with the condition beneath the tiles, as well as the finish you can see.

Questions about this service

Does a shower leak mean the whole bathroom must be replaced?

Not automatically. The source, condition and practical repair boundaries need assessment. A limited repair is only useful when it addresses the actual cause and can be integrated with the surrounding construction.

What should I send for a bathroom enquiry?

Include room photos, approximate dimensions, the suburb, your intended layout and whether any water is visible in an adjoining room or below the bathroom.
